5 Templates You Need In Your Online Business

Running your blog and online business efficiently is all about getting solid systems in place that you can replicate over and over again. A super simple way to do this is to create, buy or acquire reusable templates you can copy, paste and edit whenever needed. Here are my ‘Big 5’. The templates I use most days, that save me hours of time every single month.

Blog Post Templates

I have several templates I use for the type of blog posts I publish regularly. I’ve included them in the Busy Blogger’s Success Kit to help other bloggers pull their weekly (or daily) posts together quickly. There’s everything from a review post, to a product comparison, to a recipe post. I customize them to include my disclosure statement, sign up form and image placeholders.

You can easily create your own blog post templates, or grab the Busy Blogger’s Success Kit for half-price when you subscribe to our newsletter.

Email Templates

I use Mailchimp to build my email list (find out how to build yours for free in this post). Mailchimp allows you to save the templates you like (complete with layout, images and links) and pick one for each newsletter or email you send out.

I also keep a plain text document that’s a template for the copy I include in each email. I try to include a story, tip, free resource and recommendation, plus information on any challenges, sales, or special offers my subscribers might like.

Image Templates

I like to have a coherent look to my images, but plenty of variety too. I use a free online tool called Canva to create images for my blog, social media updates, and Pinterest boards (my Pinterest images are particularly important as I find Pinterest is great for driving traffic and marketing my business, as long as I get the images right). I keep a ton of templates stored in my online account so I can just switch out blog post titles and calls to action.

Invoice Template

I take the stress out of invoicing by using the built in invoicing feature in my PayPal Business account. But for the rare times I need to send an invoice by post, I have a basic template that I just adapt to my needs.

Digital Products Templates

Creating digital products such as opt-in freebies, ebooks and the products I include in my success kits is a breeze with ready made templates. I’m LOVING these from Daring Two. The templates are gorgeous, stylish, and extremely user-friendly. I just made a beautiful new opt-in for one of my websites in less than 15 minutes using one of these (I’d already written the content and sourced the images). Here’s a example of what you can do with these templates.
