So the math is simple. If you get 1% better every day, in any area of your life, you’ll have made a 365% improvement over the course of a year. If that seems too ambitious, let’s break it down a little. How about getting 90% better in 90 days? Does that seem more doable? 90 days is what’s covered in each individual 1% planner, so it’s what I’m aiming for this quarter.
Will I get 1% better every day? I doubt it. We all have off days. Days where we stall or backslide, but those who know me well know I’m all about small, incremental improvements, rather than those ‘massive action’ strategies that just seem exhausting, so this new 1% planner is right up my street.

How does it work?
The 1% planner comes with a page to plan your quarterly OKRs (objectives and key results), pages to plan and review each week, and daily journal and tracking pages. The weekly plan gives you space to plan in multiple areas, including:
- Body & Mind
- Personal Growth
- Work & Career
- Fun & Enjoyment
- Family & Friends
- Romantic Relationship
I guess if any of those things aren’t a top priority for you right now, you can substitute something else or simply skip it. I’ve been struggling with work/life balance for the last quarter or so, so I actually love that there’s so much variety in there. And that I’ll be encouraged to include at least one goal that falls under ‘Fun & Enjoyment’ each week.
The planner also comes with three monthly habit trackers allowing you to track morning and evening habits, and customisable affirmation cards.
While this planner is marketed as a productivity tool, the focus is on balance and small daily improvements rather than ‘getting more done’. I’m hoping it will fit well with my Do Less, But Better philosophy.
While I’ve yet to get started with my 1% planner as yet, here’s what I’m loving about it:
- The layout is crisp and clean
- It covers 6 areas that I just happen to want to improve
- It encourages small daily improvements in each area
- It includes daily inspirational quotes and prompts
- It comes with monthly habit trackers
I also like the idea that:
“The 1% Planner is not a tool that ‘demands more input’ from you, but it’s a tool that helps you ‘produce more output’ so that you will achieve your goals and get things you truly want.”
Because God knows I don’t need more demands on my time right now. Just a few tools to support me as I strive to live my best life. I’m hoping this will be one of them.
And what I don’t like?
The main thing I don’t like is that it only covers a quarter, not a whole year. Having said that, I’ll give it a go this quarter and see if I like it enough to order again for next quarter. If you’re sure you want to give the system a go for a whole year, you can order four planners at once. Until the end of March 2022, you’ll get the fourth one free. Simply add four to your cart and you’ll only pay for three.
